It is with great regret, that we announce that the duchy is closing its gallery space on Duke Street on 27 May 2013.
We set up in 2009 in a quiet pocket east of the city centre and throughout our time there have seen new local projects arise, other artist-run spaces in the city thrive, shops come and go and a major regeneration of our local area. We are proud of the 4 years we have had on Duke Street and are sincerely thankful to all those who made it possible; to the artists who have exhibited with us, to all those who came to visit our shows, our openings and events and to the other individuals, galleries and organisations who have supported us throughout.
We will continue as a curatorial project with one off-site exhibition per year and the space will be closing on a high note with a solo exhibition of new paintings by Zara Idelson, who exhibited in one of our graduate shows in 2011 and a one night event and exhibition closing party, Ski ‘n’ Save with the Poster Club, more details below.
